Local Bristol promoter Saul Minshall has been awarded a £2000 bursary by the Smirnoff Night Vision initiatve for his new night Monkey! Flash! Light! Party! Prepare to see The Thekla illuminated soley by torch light! Artists include : DJ Feadz, Duke Dumont, Plimsouls, Contort yourself and Stereo 8. 10pm - 4 am Tickets - £4.99 (Bristol ticket office) Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, Cream honcho James Barton, club promotions agency Don’t Panic and Mark Ronson’s agent Cris Hearn voted Saul’s night as one of the UK’s most original nights. The initiative, which is part of Smirnoff’s ongoing commitment to Original Nights, aims to discover, support and celebrate the most forward-thinking promoters in the country. Rob da Bank comments "I am very taken with the Smirnoff Night Vision initiative for promoters. I started out as promoter putting on Sunday Best events with a £1.99 entrance fee, and now have my own Bestival and Camp Bestival festivals for up to 35,000 people. I'm delighted to help select some of the country's most unique and original new music promoters." Bursaries of £2,000 are still available for anyone across Great Britain who has an idea for an original night to help get their idea off the ground. To qualify for the bursaries, all the hopefuls need to do is join the Night Vision Facebook page (via www.facebook.com/smirnofforiginalnights) and convince the experts involved that their idea is original enough to make the cut.
