ImageStorming into its fourth year, the Red Stripe Music Award 2010, supported by Last FM, is hitting the streets of Bristol once more, with a showcase confirmed at the Croft on Thursday 28th January. Last year two bands from Bristol made it onto the shortlist with hip hop and ska band, First Degree Burns playing at the final held at the HMV Forum in London where Gomez headlined. Hundreds of bands have entered already for 2010 with the line-up below now finalized. Doors will be at 7.30pm and tickets will be sold on the door for £5 only. Diego A collaboration of two like-minded songwriters known to Bristol's open mic circuit, Diego has evolved into a rich, rocky and sensorial give piece band. Syte & Sound Syte & Sound combine the excitement of traditional instrumentalism with samples and synthesisers designed to “serve up an enigmatic, eclectic dish of slow-cooked soul food that will amaze and inspire.” Substatic Substatic is a Bristol based electro/ dance trio that have built up a reputation as an exciting act offering their own original brand of sultry electro-pop and electric live shows. Scarlet Rascal & The Trainwreck Influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan and The Velvet Underground, this dynamic duo promise to cause a storm for 2010. Paul Brazier heads up the Red Stripe team and is keen to give something back to fans of the Jamaican lager beer; “The Red Stripe Music Award is about providing emerging artists with an appropriate platform to be heard, so the four London venues are ideal.” Extra support in the way of Last FM www.last.fm and The Fly magazine www.the-fly.co.uk will see emerging talent exposed to music lovers across the country.
